Previously published in The Ellison/Sandburg Files*, a zine still available from

Agent With Style

*The zine pairs Circle with its prequel, Extreme Possibilities. I'd recommend the zine just for its great cover by K9.

This was supposed to be my one concession to vanity, my name in print once. Now, of course, I'm one of the founders of Skeeter Press and will have at least one zine out a year. Life is always one surprise after another.

Timewise, Circle occurs prior to The Sentinel By Blair Sandburg (The Sentinel's final episode) and Biogenesis (the 1999 season ender of The X-Files). Both episodes are mentioned in the epilogue. There are also many, many episodes of both shows alluded to in the story. It would take way too long to name them all here, but if you have any questions, contact me.

I have always been a fan of The X-Files, but I didn't realize just how much detail I'd missed until I went looking on the internet. Unfortunately, most of the really helpful sites I lost track of during the Great Geocities Exodus of '99. I managed to hunt down Tiny Dancer's Episode Guide and Inside The X: The X-Files Transcript Archive.

Of course The X-Files is the property of Chris Carter, 1013 Productions, and Twentieth Century Fox.

You can read the entire story here. Or you can read it in parts:

Part I (Prologue- Chapter 8)

Part II (Chapters 9-16)

Part III (Chapters 17-24/Epilogue)
